Thing 13
LibraryThing!
I really like LibraryThing. I think it would be awesome for our more computer savvy patrons to share with other patrons what they are reading. I have always checked what a patron has on author alert for recommendations and I use Amazon, read-alikes etc.... LibraryThing would offer much more information. I would use LibraryThing to help a patron by looking at recommendations by other members. You can search by tags, top recommendations or you could tell the patron about the website for themselves. So many options!!!!!

Social Media Websites.....hmmm
Well I guess they would be just as useful at the library and at home. I am feeling overwhelmed with all of these options that are out there at this point. Would the library use this? Is the library going to move forward with these websites and many others? Do patrons even know about all of these websites, or are we behind the times? Maybe these websites are more of a detractor in my opinion. I did read some stories today as I was working on this thingy that I might not have known about otherwise..........

Tagging and Del.icio.us
I really liked this thingy. This is another good way to get information out there. I especially liked the Stanford Library layout of tags. It is nice to be able to access your bookmarks anywhere you are, but I think connecting with others for great websites is awesome. I have always wondered about where is the best site to get the information I need. I would like to see our library use these tools as well as others.

WIKI...
How do you know the information you are receiving is correct?? I think a WIKI would be great for lists and imput from groups maybe, but I don't know if it would be useful for ELL or not. I created a page of my own on the WIKI instead of editing current information. My hope is that all library employees will be willing to learn more about technology (not just us LEU folks).
I can understand the ban for students using WIKI's for research purposes. I am just not 100% comfortable with the information that is on a WIKI.
